The Corps of Cadets assembled yesterday at 3:30pm for the classroom dedication ceremony honoring Mr. Richard Meador, ’58, who passed away August 31, 2006. His wife, Margaret Meador, gave FMS a generous donation in his honor. The ceremony included guest speaker J.B. Yount, ’56, Mrs. Susan Johnson, Asst. Superintendent, and Msgt. Jeffrey T. Jones, Commandant of Cadets.

Below are images from the ceremony.

  • To Susan Johnson, JB Yount, Msgt Jones and the entire Corp of Cadets,
Thank you for the classroom dedication in honor of my father, Richard L Meador. Without a doubt, Dad would have loved the idea of outfitting a classroom at FMS! I am so pleased that my mother, Margaret Meador, was able to provide the means to do just that. The plaque outside the classroom is wonderful and captures my father’s smile. You can see just a bit of mischief in those eyes if you look closely. He was definitely there in spirit for the dedication.
You are most fortunate to have Susan Johnson as your assistant superintendent. I hope you will not hesitate to show her your gratitude. I was so impressed with the members of the Corps who came to the reception following the classroom dedication, and I have a feeling that Mrs. Johnson had a little something to do with that. You cadets appeared to be true gentlemen demonstrating excellent manners, engaging in conversation with complete strangers, and coming to the aid of my elderly grandfather. Thank you all. Keep up the good work, and put that classroom to good use!
    Sincerely,
    Laura Meador Wadsworth
